From Training Room to Real Impact — My Abacus360 Experience by Mubosola Olayinka
When I joined ON-POINT Connect as a Banking Consultant, I knew I’d be learning quickly. But just seven months into the role, I had the chance to take that learning to a whole new level: completing a four-day, in-person certification course on banking regulation and the Abacus360 Regnology platform in Frankfurt.
It was an intense but rewarding journey, technical, regulatory and hands-on, that has shaped how I work with clients every day.
An Immersive Learning Experience
The training was built around five modules, each corresponding to a section of the final certification exam:
- Introduction to the Abacus360 Banking Platform
- Data models (Da-Vinci / A360 Native)
- Processes and Functions
- Analytical methods and Testing
- Parameter configuration and Management
Alongside the technical elements, we explored German and European banking regulations, understanding the “why” behind the platform’s design and features.
Language and Timing Matter
The course was delivered entirely in German — something that could have been daunting without preparation. Luckily, over a decade of language study, two years working in Germany, and a year of daily business communication had prepared me well.
Timing was also key. By the seven-month mark at ON-POINT, I had gained hands-on Abacus360 experience and a solid grasp of banking regulations. This foundation meant I could connect the technical dots faster, seeing how the platform’s architecture supports real regulatory needs.
The F001 Insight
One of my biggest “aha” moments came with a small but powerful detail: the reporting unit (Meldeeinheit) button in Abacus360.
Behind it is the F001 data field, a primary key in every table that determines the entity level for viewing or editing data. Get this wrong when uploading a manual adjustment, and you could end up reporting at the wrong entity level — or worse, submitting incorrect data.
From Consolidated Group level (F001 = 01-xx-xx-xx-xx) to branch-level reporting (e.g., F001 = 01-01-01-01-01), understanding this hierarchy is essential. It’s a small detail with a big impact.
